On Stage

Carl Brandt Long [Michael Starkwedder] is pleased to be working with Castaways Repertory Theatre. Carl's acting credits include Smeaton (Anne of the Thousand Days), Tybalt/Capulet (Romeo and Juliet), Alex Gal (Rough Crossing), Cyrano (Cyrano de Bergerac), and Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream).  He also directs and writes for the theatre.

Pamela Sabella [Laura Warwick] is excited to make her first appearance with Castaways.  Her most recent roles include Anne Boleyn in Anne of the Thousand Days (Vpstart Crow) and Mary Warren in The Crucible (RCP).  While living in Charlottesville and attending the University of Virginia, Pamela portrayed five different characters in David Ives’ Polish Joke (Live Arts) and also participated in student theatre. Her favorite roles include Hero in Much Ado About Nothing, Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, Elizabeth in Richard III, and one of the “Weird Sisters” in Macbeth.

Lori Muhlstein [Miss Bennett] is making her fourth CRT appearance, having appeared in Steel Magnolias (Ouiser), Last Night of Ballyhoo (Reba), and Could Angels be Blessed (Caroline).  She won the A.C.T. award for Best Supporting Actress for her role of Helen in Pack of Lies (VCT) and was nominated for her roles as Helga in Kindertransport (DS) and Lee in Tale of the Allergist's Wife (DS).  Other favorite roles include Edna in Prisoner of Second Avenue (Encore), Muriel and Karen in Plaza Suite (GFP and Encore), and assorted crazies in Durang, Durang (Port City).  Lori is also a company member of Murder Upon Request, a professional interactive theater company, and she is appearing on your television screens in a commercial spot for Oreck vacuums.  Love to Wayne for your love and support, and miss you Rachel, my wonderful daughter who is enjoying her stint on the West Coast.  Thanks Kevin.  Glad to work together again.

Patty McCoart [Mrs. Warwick] has been a member of the Castaways for almost 20 years.  During those years she has also performed with other Northern Virginia theatre groups in Arlington, Fauquier, Manassas, McLean, Reston and Springfield.  Her last role in a full-length play was as Juanita in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean with Rooftop Productions. Her most recent performance was in June 2006 at the 25th Annual NVTA One-Act Play Competition in the award-winning original one-act play, Gas N’ Go, by Katy Helper.  Patty played Evangeline and happily accepted the NVTA award for Best Lead Actress. In previous years at NVTA competitions, Patty has won Best Supporting Actress and shared two ensemble awards.  She studied at the American Academy of Dramatics Arts in NYC.  

Alexander Green [Jan Warwick] is enjoying his first appearance with Castaways Repertory Theater. Other stage credits include Jimmy Shine in Jimmy Shine, Mr. Hassler in The Pajama Game, as well as various roles in Don't Mind My Mind, all with NWTG.  He has been active in theatre throughout his academic career and looks forward to future performances beyond it. Alexander thanks his family and friends, especially his friends with NWTG and his girlfriend Heather, and the cast and crew of The Unexpected Guest for being a joy to work with.

Greg Crowe [Henry Angell] has gotten heavily into theater this year, performing in You Can't Take It with You with Great Falls Players, and Gas N' Go with Fauquier Community Theater, among others. He was thrilled to see Gas 'N Go recognized with awards at both the NVTA and VTA One-Act Festivals. Greg is happy to be working with so many talented performers, some of which he had worked with before, and others he was pleased to meet. Greg would like to thank Kevin, our director, and Erin, our stage manager, for all of their tireless effort in corralling and focusing a group of performers such as this cast.

Greg Crowe, most recently seen in local theatre portraying “Fitzpatrick” in Sterling Playmakers production of Tom Jones will soon be seen in the film Misunderstandings directed by Malik Pollard.

Henry Newman [Inspector Thomas] is pleased to be back on stage after a 10-year break. Prior to that, he appeared with CRT in Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Barney) and the female version of The Odd Couple (Costazuela Brother). He has also been seen in local productions of Guys and Dolls (Big Julie), Catch Me If You Can (Inspector Levine), Fiddler on the Roof (Lazar Wolfe), Arsenic and Old Lace (Lieutenant) and 12 Angry Men (Juror 11).

Cassandra Newman [Sergeant Cadwallader] recently graduated from American University with a Master of Arts in International Peace and Conflict Resolution after completing a thesis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.  After a 10-year hiatus from the theater, she is happy to be back on stage and working with the Castaways for the first time.  Prior to her break, she had worked at the Children’s Theatre of Arlington, where she played Witch Hex in Snow White, the Cook in Sleeping Beauty and a chorus member in Rebecca’s World.  She received training at the West End Dinner Theatre and Kennedy Center Youth Theatre Camps.  Cassandra enjoys creative writing, martial arts, swimming and watching classic films.  She wishes to thank her father for suggesting she audition and her mother for providing support.

Greg Powell [Julian Farrar] is back working with Castaways Repertory Theatre after almost 10 years. Greg's recent acting credits include George (Moon Over Buffalo), Lloyd (Gas ‘N’ Go), Buster (Ripe Conditions), and Richard (Killing Dante). 

 

Backstage

Kevin Kirby [Director, co-producer, set designer]
Kevin has been doing community theatre for three years both on stage and behind the scenes in various capacities.  He would like to thank Erin and the talented cast for their dedication and hard work.

Erin DeCaprio [Stage Manager]
Erin has found her way backstage for this production after appearing on stage in Picnic (DS), You Can’t Take It With You (GFP) and, most recently, Gas ‘N’ Go (FCT), for which she won the Best Supporting Actress award in this year’s NVTA One-Act Festival. She is happy to be working with CRT for the first time, and considers herself lucky to be working with such a talented group of actors and such a patient director. Thanks to all for your support, hard work and tolerance.

Gary Lindsey [Master builder]
This is Gary’s first time building a complete set.  His previous set building experience was the garage door he built for CRT’s Steel Magnolias.

Kevin King [Lighting - Design]
Kevin King is a 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech's Industrial and Systems Engineering program. He has served a number of theatre companies in Northern Virginia area in a behind-the-scenes capacity. He recently served as the lighting, sound and scenic designer for 2nd Flight Production's presentation of Jesus Christ Superstar, sound board operator for Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap (2nd Flight), and lighting technician for CRT’s Steel Magnolias. Previously, Kevin was the scenic and light designer for State Your Name Theatre Company's productions of Cabaret (2004), Rebel without a Cause (2003) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (2003) in Blacksburg, VA. He also served as the President and Technical Director of State Your Name Theatre Company while attending Virginia Tech. He is currently employed by the MITRE Corporation as a Modeling and Simulation Analyst in McLean and is pursing his Masters of Science in Systems Engineering at George Mason University.
